Each session is limited to 10 people, so register now. Morning Sessions: 1st week Mon-Fri, 2nd week Mon-Wed. Evening Sessions: 1st week Tue-Fri, 2nd week Tue-Fri. The Hastings Parks and Recreation Dept uses the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program that offers the following levels of aquatic instruction. Swim lessons cancelled due to weather will be made up on the Thursday & Friday of the 2nd week. Weather related announcements will be listed on the Aquacourt answering machine at 402-463-1016. Parent & Tot – Ages 6 mo. - 3 yr. For non-independent children. Develops swimming readiness by leading parents and their child in water exploration activities with the objective of having fun and becoming comfortable in, on and around water. Class includes entering water safely, submerging mouth, nose and eyes, front float/back floats, arm/leg action on front and back. Level 2: Builds on Level 1 skills and gives the participant success with fundamental skills such as floating and basic locomotion. Class includes being fully submerged, opening eyes underwater, treading using arm and leg actions, combining arm and leg action on front and back, fin hand motion on back. Level 3: Builds on Level 2 skills and improves the participant’s coordination of simultaneous arm and leg actions and alternating arm and leg actions. Class includes jumping in, fully submerging and holding breath 5 seconds, recovery from floats and glides, treading water, combining arm and leg actions front and back for 5 body lengths.
